MOVA has taken the satellite images from NASA, to create a topographic globe of the Vesta asteroid, one of the last remaining of the protoplanets discovered in 1807. It’s the second-largest object in the asteroid belt and was the first to be visited by a spacecraft in the asteroid belt (NASA's Dawn Mission). Brilliant blue and green tones are mixed with deep reds to show the various elevations and terrain of the famed asteroid. Red hues show a higher elevation while blue shows the lower areas. Vesta is the brightest asteroid in the solar system, and is often visible from Earth with the naked eye, making it a favourite among budding astronomers and hobbyists alike.
